Negombo's Beach Road is the lively heart of the town's tourist scene — a bustling strip of beachfront restaurants, cafés, bars and boutique shops that stretches along the golden sands of the Indian Ocean coastline.
The beach itself is long and sandy, popular with local families and tourists alike for swimming, sunbathing and watching the colourful outrigger fishing canoes that still work these waters. Sunset from the beach is a daily spectacle — the sky turns vivid shades of orange and pink as the fishing fleet heads out for the night.
The restaurant strip offers everything from fresh seafood caught that morning to Sri Lankan rice and curry, wood-fired pizza, and cold Lion beer on the terrace. It's the perfect place for a leisurely evening out — a short tuk-tuk ride from The Lagoon Villa.
Head out around 5:30 pm to catch the sunset from the beach before settling in for dinner. Many restaurants take walk-ins, but booking ahead is wise during peak season.
